Thinking about starting your own
business as a child care provider?

In 2021 in Weld County there were 11,073 children with two parents employed full-time in the workforce, yet there were
only 6,400 licensed child care slots – creating a critical child care desert. When there isn’t child care available, parents are forced to leave the workforce or children don’t receive adequate care. It will take a combination of licensed, exempt (or FFN), and school age providers to fill the current shortage. Your time makes a real difference for children and families in Weld County.

Benefits of Becoming a Child Care Provider

  • Grant resources to help cover the costs of getting started!
  • Flexible schedule – full or part-time, get matched with families needing your help.
  • Studies have shown when we spend $1 on early childhood education the return on investment in our community ranges from $8 – $16.
  • Children who receive quality early child care have a higher graduation rate and cognitive skills, higher incomes well into adulthood, and more. You’ll be making a real difference.
